Notwithstanding the high environmental standards integrated in EU policies at all levels, European states face concrete environmental challenges due to the complexities and spillovers of industrial and technological advancements. The European Environmental Agency highlighted in its report (2010), identified the transition towards a green economy as one of the changes needed to secure the longterm sustainability of European societies.

EM aims at raising awareness about the environmental challenges facing Europe and educate youngsters about environment in all its aspects. The methodology employed to achieve youth exchange goals will be based on the principles and tools of Non-Formal Education, involving a set of activities (role-plays, simulations etc.) characterized by a dynamic and strictly non-hierarchical approach to the learning process.
